Gatunek stali: Wear-resistant steel

Wear-resistant steel is a unique material characterized by a fully martensitic microstructure obtained by hardening. It is a steel of relatively high hardness, which translates into strength, and thus extends the usability of the elements that were produced with its use. Although wear-resistant steel has a high hardness, it is an easy-to-process material that can be bent, welded, cut or processed by many other methods.

What should you know about wear-resistant steel?

The abrasion resistant steel contains a significant amount of manganese in an average concentration (12%). During hardening and hardening, this material gains increased resistance to abrasion. It is a material that has been successfully operating in many industries since 1882. Thanks to its invention, it has become possible to produce elements and subassemblies that are particularly exposed to abrasion, and thus quick destruction.
Wear-resistant steel is characterized not only by a solid content of carbon and manganese in the chemical composition. Its properties are also influenced by other alloy additives, including silicon, chromium, nickel and copper.
Most of the choices made with hard-to-wear steel are non-magnetic. There may, however, be situations where an unsuitable tempered material exhibits ferromagnetic properties. They do not result from the properties of the material, but from errors made during its processing.
The wear-resistant steel also has a high resistance to pressure and impact, which additionally allows for maintaining high durability of all elements that arise when using it.

The use of wear-resistant steel

Due to its properties,  abrasion resistant steel is widely used. Very often it is one of the most important materials used in the production of tippers and towed truck bodies, used to transport heavy materials and characterized by increased abrasion (e.g. construction waste, agricultural products, stones). This material is also reliable in the construction of garbage truck bodies, vehicles exposed to high chemical and mechanical loads.
Wear-resistant steel is one of the best materials for excavator buckets, bulldozer shovels and tractor attachments.
